Glennwood House gets $500,000 donation

The Glennwood Housing Foundation has received a $500,000 donation from Jacob Voogd.

He has already pledged $1.9 million to help renovate the Glennwood House, which will house young adults ages 18 to 45 with special needs, according to a news release from the foundation.

Angel donations, which are gifts from $25,000 to more than $1 million, include room naming opportunities. Voogd will have the dining room named in memory of his wife, Joanne. She always hoped for a place where people with developmental disabilities, like the Voogds' granddaughter, could get help and gain independence.

Remodeling plans for Glennwood House are finished and are being submitted for city approval.

The Glennwood Housing Foundation and Laguna Beach Community Foundation encourage community members to donate to the project by sending a check to Laguna Beach Foundation/Glennwood House Fund, P.O. 1628, Laguna Beach, CA 92652.

The Glennwood House is at 2130 S. Coast Hwy.
