Laguna Beach police arrested a woman suspected of stealing a vehicle from the Mozambique valet lot Wednesday night.
Allison Susan Goode, 31, of Laguna Beach was arrested on suspicion of auto theft and possession of stolen property, Capt. Jason Kravetz said in an email. She's being held on $40,000 bail.
The restaurant called police at 11:01 p.m. to report that a 2008 Nissan Frontier was missing from the lot. Police believe the theft occurred 30 minutes earlier.
Officers reviewed a surveillance camera footage, which showed Goode taking keys from the valet key rack and walking around the lot, trying to locate the vehicle, Kravetz said. After locating the car, she reportedly got in and drove off, he said.
The owner of the vehicle came out after dinner and discovered the car was missing.
Officers then entered the restaurant and found that Goode had dined with two men there. One of the men paid with a credit card, which left contact information in the restaurant's computer, Kravetz said.
Officers went to the man's home in Laguna Beach and interviewed him. He gave them the woman's personal information, which led officers to Arch Beach Heights, Kravetz said. Police learned she no longer lived in the home but police were able to find an acquaintance of the woman in South Laguna.
When they pulled up at the person's home on Mar Vista Drive, the stolen vehicle was parked in a neighboring driveway. Officers discovered Goode in the home with the stolen vehicle's keys in her purse, Kravetz said.
