Laguna Beach has recognized 11 city firefighters — seven for promotion, three for being hired and one for retiring after more than two decades with the department.

The men were honored during a ceremony Tuesday in council chambers.

Kurt Bladergroen, Danny Kalscheuer and Bryan Sarjeant are being promoted to fire engineer, and Brent Buccola, Chris Ornelas and Matt Rolfe are now firefighters, according to the city's website. Zack De John is now a paramedic.

The department also honored engineer Jeff Priest, who is retiring after 26 years with Laguna, and three new probationary firefighters: Brian Adams, Forrestt Lazicki and James Lin.
