Artist open studios changes schedule; will move to weekends

A change is in store for Laguna’s artist open studios beginning in October, according to a news release.

The series that allows the public to watch artists up close used to be held the first Saturday of the month from October through March. But artists wanted the viewings held for an entire weekend, thus the sessions will go from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 17 and 18, and on March 19 and 20, city Cultural Arts Manager Sian Poeschl wrote in an email.

Participants can park for free at the Act V parking lot at 1900 Laguna Canyon Road and take a complimentary shuttle to the studios.

More than 30 artists in a variety of media, from glass fusion to bronze welding, will offer hands-on experiences and insights into their creative processes. New artists to the series include Tom Lamb, Muffin Spencer-Devlin, Marlo Bartels and Casey Parlette, Poeschl said.

City Hall also has an artists’ exhibition open to the public from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday through Oct. 9, at 505 Forest Ave.
