Three Laguna Beach athletes, fourth-grade students Jack Payne, George Williams and Nolan Naess, were selected to the Laguna Hills National Junior Basketball All-Star Team.

The team, composed of players from both Laguna Beach and Laguna Hills, advanced to the Final Four of the national tournament. The team started 9-0 during the three-weekend tournament and along the day defeated teams from Rancho Santa Margarita, Los Angeles, San Francisco and San Jose.

The team's only loss was a 58-53 semifinal defeat Sunday to eventual champion Newport Mesa Gold.

The tournament was played at gym sites in Lake Forest, Irvine and Garden Grove.
