Briefs: King and Queen of the Beach tournaments coming soon

The annual Laguna Beach Volleyball King and Queen of the Beach tournaments will be played Oct. 17-18 at Main Beach in Laguna Beach.

The Men’s A and Women’s B tournaments start at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 17. The Men’s B and Women’s A tournaments begin at 9 a.m. Oct. 18.

The round-robin format tournament is for competitive players (ages 14-and-up, non-beginner). The “A” divisions are for Open, AAA, AA and A California Beach Volleyball Assn.-rated players. The “B” divisions are open to anyone playing doubles and able to play several games. Players with a CBVA rating of “A” or above, may not enter the “B” division tournaments. Prizes will be awarded to the top four finishers in each division.

Entry cost is $25 until Oct. 15. Registration cost is $30 the days of the tournaments.

Laguna Beach Volleyball also has announced the Christmas 4-Person Tournament, Open and Social divisions, will be held Dec. 12 at Main Beach.

Pacific Paddle Games

The Pacific Paddle Games are Saturday and Sunday at Doheny State Beach in Dana Point. The inaugural event is offering a $55,000 prize purse, the largest purse offered in the sport.
